Michael is a Sydney based Production Designer, working both in Australia and abroad. His work spans across film, tv drama, commercials and editorial styling. His work has gone on to win awards and screened nationally and internationally on the international festival circuit.
A 2012 Production Design graduate from AFTRS; Michael has the ability to communicate, collaborate and conquer any design challenge brought before the art department. More recently, his success has taken him abroad where he was Art Directing commercials, with some of Europe’s leading agencies and production companies, on international campaigns.
Now back in Australia, he brings his experiences from abroad, shedding new light as an active voice, through collaboration, on the visual storytelling of any project.
Sets, more specifically the work of the Production Designer, are explicitly held responsible for providing a film with its inimitable look; its geographical, historical, social and cultural contexts and the physical framework within which a film’s narrative is to proceed. Production Design is so important, important to shape stories and inform audiences.
Working in commercials for clients Dior, McDonald’s, Orange, ING, BNP Paribas Goodyear and Nestle; under the direction of Directors such as Olivier Dahan, Martin Werner, Vincent Lobelle and Willy Vanderperre as well as working on locally-made independent projects, Michael has been exposed to all demands and budgets.
This has seen him acquire the diligence and resourceful understanding when Designing for film, working to tight deadlines always delivering an executed vision with collaborative solutions.
